HKBU Library has been a local pioneer and leader in
supporting and promoting digital scholarship/humanities since 2013. It provides
support for project management, data structure, and digital technologies for
various types of digital projects, including digitization with OCR, data
visualization, GIS applications, corpus development, and crowd-sourcing
projects, among other areas. The digital scholarship service can extend the
life of scholarly sources to facilitate deeper information sharing and new
research findings.
The presentation will briefly discuss why the HKBU Library
decided to enter this area, the actual benefits of this service to both the
Library and academics, and how to maintain the provision of the service.
