Food and Drinks Regulations
We aim to ensure a welcoming and comfortable learning environment for all who use our Library facilities.
What is permitted?
- Packaged snacks (e.g., small, quick, bite-sized portions, similar to those provided by the vending machines) are permitted in designated areas.
- Non-alcoholic drinks in covered containers are permitted.
What is not permitted?
- No hot and/or aromatic, pungent, juicy, and potentially messy food.
- Examples of food items not allowed include but are not limited to: meals of any kind, hot food of any kind, lunch boxes, noodles, pizza, burgers, hotdogs, fried chicken, fish balls, shao-mai, fries, fish and chips, soup, salad, cakes with cream, ice-cream, etc.
- No food deliveries to the Library.
- To protect the equipment, consuming food and drinks are not permitted at computer workstations near other electronic equipment, or when using archival materials.
- Food and drinks of sizes intended for consumption by more than one person, such as big bags of biscuits, chips, or large bottles of soft drinks, are not allowed.

Please help us maintain our facilities and collections by:
- Disposing of waste and recycling materials in the provided bins and cleaning up any spills right away.
- Letting our staff know about any spills or garbage issues.
The Library has the full authority to determine which food and drink items are appropriate for consumption inside the Library.
Library users in violation of the food and drinks policy may be asked to discard their food, store it out of sight (e.g., in a backpack), or leave the Library.
