Library Storage and Closed Stack Collection<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"Collections\"><strong>Collections<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The collection currently consists of 343,000 volumes. It covers a wide range of subjects and various reference sources available on databases.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2--b-book-and-reference-collection-\"><span id=\"A_Book_and_Reference_Collections\"><strong>A. Book and Reference Collections<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Chinese collection is kept on the 2\/F (class no. 000-899), the 5\/F (class no. 000-999), and Library Storage. The English collection is on the 4\/F (class no. 000-999), the 5\/F (class no. 000-999), and Library Storage. The reference collection contains works such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, yearbooks, almanacs and bibliographies. The prefix of reference collection is shown as <strong>R<\/strong>. All reference materials (except Library Storage items) are to be used within the library only.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3--c-serials-collections-\"><span id=\"B_Serials_Collection\"><strong>B. Serials Collection<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Serials Collection is kept on the 3\/F and the 4\/F. This collection includes a variety of print serial publications such as journals, newsletters, magazines, and newspapers. Current issues of journals are displayed on the front racks. Back issues are bound and the collection carries the prefix <strong>P <\/strong>or <strong>LP<\/strong> on spine-labels and catalogue entries. Unbound issues of periodicals are for use in the library only.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4--d-newspapers-\"><span id=\"C_Newspapers\"><strong>C. Newspapers<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Around 19 current issues of local and overseas newspapers are on 3\/F for browsing inside the library.\u00a0 Besides these print newspapers, a database of full-text newspapers clippings with search capabilities <a href=\"https:\/\/hksyu.primo.exlibrisgroup.com\/permalink\/852HKSYU_INST\/nt5t0h\/alma991005442279707546\">Wisers One &amp; WiseSearch<\/a>\u00a0is also available for users wanting a softcopy of the newspaper articles or archival newspapers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"6--f-reserve-collection-\"><span id=\"D_Course_Resources\"><strong>D. Course Resources<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Most of the course readings are available in the general collections that are on a normal loan period.\u00a0 The closed-stack Course Reserve on the G\/F are materials requested by instructors to be made available to students on a shorter loan period. You can borrow these materials for 7 days.\u00a0 Here\u2019s how to locate the course readings in various locations:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Go to the \u201cCourse Resources\u201d tab on the Library homepage and enter the course code<\/li>\r\n<li>For items with location marked \u201cCourse Reserve G\/F\u201d:\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Note down the call number and title of the items you want.<\/li>\r\n<li>Visit the G\/F Service Counter during <a href=\"https:\/\/library.hksyu.edu\/lib\/library-opening-hours\/\">counter service hours<\/a> and provide this information to the staff.<\/li>\r\n<li>The staff will retrieve the items and check them out for you.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>For items with other locations:\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Note down the location and the call number.<\/li>\r\n<li>If the items&#8217; status are available, you should be able to find them on the shelves.<\/li>\r\n<li>If the items have been checked out, you can request the items.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>For items marked &#8220;Available online&#8221;, you can access the materials instantly and remotely.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"7--g-law-collection-\"><span id=\"E_Law_Collection\"><strong>E. Law Collection<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Law Collection is kept separately in a special law library on the 4\/F. Collections include English\/Chinese monographs, bound and current issues of journals and reference materials. English collection\u00a0carries the prefix <strong>L<\/strong> ; Chinese collection carries the prefix <strong>CL<\/strong> ; Journals carry the prefix <strong>LP.<\/strong> ; Reference materials carry the prefix <strong>RL.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Peking University (Law Theses)<\/strong><br \/>Our Law Library has Peking University Theses. They are for use within the library only. Law theses carry the prefix<strong> CCB PKU (Bachelor Degree)<\/strong> and <strong>CC PKU (Master Degree).<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"8--h-av-collection-\"><span id=\"F_Multimedia_Collection\"><strong>F. Multimedia Collection<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Multimedia Collection includes CDs, VCDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, USB drive, etc. It is located on the 3\/F. Prefix on the spine labels and the catalogue entries carries capital letters are as follow:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>AVC<\/strong> for CD-ROMs, audio CDs and video CDs (in AVC cabinets),<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>AVD <\/strong>for for DVDs, DVD-ROMs, Blu-Ray discs, USB drive,<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>AVK <\/strong>for Kit set,<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>AVR<\/strong> for reference set.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Accompanying materials in multimedia format are kept at G\/F Service Counter.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Local TV Programmes<\/strong> (HKSYUTUBE)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To enhance the media collection, the HKSYU Library has accomplished agreements with TVB, ATV and ViuTV to record some TV programmes for academic and research use.<br \/><br \/>Students and staff can watch the programs via <a href=\"https:\/\/libvideo.hksyu.edu.hk\/\">HKSYUTUBE<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<table class=\"normal_table\" style=\"height: 90px;
