HKBU Library has been a local pioneer and leader in\nsupporting and promoting digital scholarship\/humanities since 2013. It provides\nsupport for project management, data structure, and digital technologies for\nvarious types of digital projects, including digitization with OCR, data\nvisualization, GIS applications, corpus development, and crowd-sourcing\nprojects, among other areas. The digital scholarship service can extend the\nlife of scholarly sources to facilitate deeper information sharing and new\nresearch findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation will briefly discuss why the HKBU Library\ndecided to enter this area, the actual benefits of this service to both the\nLibrary and academics, and how to maintain the provision of the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaker\u2019s Bio<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebekah Wong<\/strong> is head of the Digital Initiatives\nand Research Cluster<\/a> at the Hong Kong Baptist University Library. Her team\nprovides user-focused services in the areas of research visibility and impact,\ncopyright and open access, digital scholarship\/humanities, and research data\ntechniques. She also oversees two modules of the University’s IRIMS\nsystem<\/a> and the Library’s Multimedia Learning Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has authored a number of research articles and book chapters on digital scholarship and the impact of libraries on university success, and co-edited a book on the development of digital humanities in the Asia-Pacific region.
