Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia database indexes over 25,000 records, covering an array of topics. Full text for each record may be easily accessed by double clicking on the topic from the display. The database contains various images, offers brief biographies as well as information in a variety of subject areas. This database is updated annually.

Researchers can jump into any step in the research process, search for articles on the go, use sharing tools and save their articles synchronously across mobile and desktop.
- Read or listen anytime, anywhere
Users can read or listen to the content they discover, link to external full-text content, view in PDF and HTML and download and read EBSCO eBooks.
- Discover new content based on previous activity
Users can serendipitously find new content in their areas of interest using the Discover Recent Subjects feature, which is generated dynamically based on previous activity.
- Open a door into the library
With the built-in Find My Organization feature, users can search for or geolocate their institution and utilize the library's preferred authentication method for easy access.
- No need to log in every time
After the user has logged in for the first time, they don’t need to log in on subsequent sessions. This lets the user get right to work every time.

After logging in to the EBSCO Mobile App, you see the Home screen. You can return to the Home screen at any time by tapping the icon in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
From the EBSCO Mobile App Home screen:
- Start Searching: The first time you log into the app, tap Start a Search in the Welcome area to get started.
- Recently viewed: Swipe to the left to see the articles and eBooks you have recently viewed while using the app. Tap an article to view it again.
- Recommended for you: Swipe to the left to view recommendations based on the most recent articles and eBooks you have viewed.
- Discover recent subjects: Tap a subject in the Discover recent subjects area to execute a search of articles related to that subject. Subjects in this area are displayed based on articles you have viewed while using the app.
To search the EBSCO Mobile App:

Tap the Magnifying Glass in the menu at the bottom of the screen to access the Search screen.

Enter your search terms in the Search Box. As you type, the app suggests search terms you can tap to quickly run a search.

Tap a filter (Peer Reviewed, Full Text, Date Range) to apply it to your search.
Note: After running your search, the Source Type filter is also available below the search box.

When you tap to add a Date filter, you can select Custom range and use the number keypad to enter a date range for your results.
After entering a date range, tap the screen to close the keypad and tap Apply to add it to your search.

Tap Search on your device's keyboard to run the search.

Your results are displayed. Tap an article or book title to see the details and read the full text, when available.
You can also long-press on any result (excluding eBooks) to access the full-text viewing options without having to navigate to the article detail page.
To read articles on the EBSCO Mobile App:

On the article screen, select to Read More of the abstract, or scroll down to view the article Details (article citation information).
Tap Access options (full text of the article, when available).
Note: The Access options feature will not appear when full text for the article is not available.

When you select to read the full text, select from the formats available to you.

The More like this tab on the detailed record for an article or eBook recommends other items related to the one you are viewing.
Tap an article or eBook in the list to view the detailed record and access the Full text, when available.
When you are logged in to the app using the Find My Organization option, Bookmarked articles are saved until your log in expires or you log out of the app. Once you are no longer logged in, Bookmarked articles are removed.
When you are logged in to the EBSCO Mobile app with your personal user account, articles that are Bookmarked in the app are also saved to your personal MyEBSCO folder and are available from anywhere you log into EBSCOhost.
To Bookmark articles on the EBSCO Mobile App:

From an article page or the result list, tap the Bookmark icon.

The article is saved and the icon changes to a solid color.

If you wish to remove the article from your Bookmarked articles, simply tap the icon again.
To view your Bookmarked articles:

Tap the Bookmark icon at the bottom of the screen to view your Saved articles.

Tap an article title on the Saved items tab of the Dashboard to read it.
If you are signed in to the EBSCO Mobile App with login credentials from your library or institution, you have the option to create a personal account from within the app. When signed in to the app with a personal account, articles that are saved in the app are also available to you in the MyEBSCO folder when you sign in to EBSCOhost with your personal account credentials.
Note: If you already have a personal account to access EBSCOhost on your desktop computer, you can use this account to sign in to the app. When you sign in with an existing account, items stored in your MyEBSCO folder are available from the Saved items in the app. However, items stored in Custom Folders you have created are not available in the EBSCO Mobile App at this time.
To create a personal account from the EBSCO Mobile App:

Launch the Mobile App and tap Find My Library.

Tap your library name in the displayed list and enter your institution's credentials to sign in to the app.

Tap the Profile icon in the menu at the bottom of the screen to access the Profile screen.

Tap the Create Account button to access the Create Account screen.

Fill in your information and click the Create Account button.
You receive a confirmation that your account has been created and are prompted to tap Log In to sign in with your new personal account credentials.
The EBSCO Mobile App enables you to share articles using your device's sharing menu.
To share articles from the EBSCO Mobile App (iOS version):

From an article page or the result list, tap the Share icon.

Select the desired method to share the article from your device's available options. (Message, Email, etc.)
The EBSCO Mobile App enables you to browse subjects of interest based on your searches and articles you have viewed as well as perform article searches for the author or authors of the article you are viewing.
Discover Recent Subjects
From the home screen of the app, you can tap a subject in the Discover recent subjects area to execute a search of articles related to that subject. Subjects in this area are displayed based on articles you have viewed while using the app.
Article Detail View Subjects
From an article's detail view, you can tap a subject to view a result list of all articles related to that subject. You can swipe to the left to reveal all available subjects.
Author Searches from the Detail View
From an article’s detail view, you can also perform a search for more articles from the author or authors of the article. Simply tap a hyperlinked author name under Details at the bottom of an article’s detail view.
- AI Insights does not use user data. User information is not stored during insight creation process.
- The AI response is grounded on the full text during Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to improve quality and reduce hallucinations.
- No AI training is done on the full text article.
- User query is not used in AI Insights.
EBSCO recently launched AI Insights, a new AI-powered summarization feature, available in search results by clicking the AI Insights button in some of our subscribed EBSCO databases. EBSCO AI Insights streamlines the research process, enhancing efficiency for users.
- AI Insights offers concise summaries, highlighting 2-5 key points from a full-text article, helping researchers quickly assess the usefulness of the article to their research and making better use of their research time.
- AI Insights will display when appropriate full text is available. Some records might not display a “Generate AI Insight” button. These are cases where the content is too short.
- AI Insights are available in the language of the interface, regardless of the full-text language.
Example: If the full-text article is in Chinese and the user selected French as the interface language, the AI Insight will be auto-translated into French.
